Clackamas River Intake Design

Clackamas River Intake Design

A new river intake pump station, at the western edge of Chief Charles Ames Park, was approved by the Gladstone Planning Commission earlier this year. The new fish friendly water pump station will deliver water from the Clackamas River to the Lake Oswego Tigard Water Partnership’s water treatment plant. Construction begins summer 2013. The new facility has a residential-looking façade, improved fencing, high quality building materials, a drinking fountain and native landscaping. Waluga Reservoir Update

Waluga Reservoir Update

The Waluga Land Use application submittal is scheduled for late this month. Waluga Reservoir design is being firmed up in anticipation of that submittal.

We want to let you know about the latest design refinements to both the facility and site plans:

  • To meet height limitations on a sloped surface, the reservoir's profile has been lowered slightly. As a result, the tank diameter increased by 2 feet to meet the required storage capacity of 3.5 MG.
  • The reservoir has shifted 6 feet to the east and 2 feet to the south. It will now be 36 feet from the west property line.
  • The tank is designed to the most stringent seismic standards – 2012 IBC (seismic occupancy category IV (highest level) and an occupancy importance factor of 1.50 (highest level). These are the standards used for vital structures such as hospitals.
  • Fencing the entire property will be included as part of the Land Use application leaving that option open as needed.

Once the application is submitted, it will be reviewed and a Development Review Commission hearing will be scheduled. We expect that the hearing will be at the end of the year.
