Traffic Alert: Upper Dr./Iron Mtn. Blvd./Lakeview Blvd. Traffic Circle

EXPECT TEMPORARY DELAYS

Water Treatment Plant Construction Update

This week, the final wall was poured for the gravity thickener building on the northeast of the site. Crews also began to excavate and install shoring for a new 54” pipe to connect the clearwell and filters. An additional office trailer was also delivered to the site and set up near the existing office complex.

Walls are almost complete in the ballasted flocculation and continue to be poured for the solids storage tank and mechanical dewatering structures. Next week, auger cast pile drilling will resume on the center of the site, to support the new 54” pipe. Refer to the current site plan for locations of each structure.

Over the next few weeks, the clearwell and ballasted flocculation roof slabs will be poured in a checkerboard pattern. The first pour for the clearwell and ballasted flocculation is scheduled for late next week. Waterblasting or sandblasting of the edges of the newly poured slabs will occur within one or two days of a roof pour. Neighbors close to the site on Mapleton Drive and Kenthorpe Way may experience intermittent noise during the sandblasting. Truck traffic will continue during concrete pouring for new structures.

Over the last two Saturdays, Clackamas Fire District #1, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and the Lake Oswego Fire Department have been conducting training (link connects to external site) at the construction site with the contractor, Slayden. The final day of training will occur this Saturday, May 24. There may be some intermittent noise from back-up alarms when the rigs arrive to the site, but this will be minimized.

National Drinking Water Week May 4th-10th

When you turn on your tap and clean, safe water comes out...

Do you ever stop to think about how it gets there and where it goes when you're finished with it? The Lake Oswego Tigard Water Partnership and the cities of Lake Oswego and Tigard are celebrating Drinking Water Week from May 5-9, 2014. We invite you to celebrate this week by taking time to learn more about your water and how you can protect and conserve it.

Here in Oregon we often take our drinking water for granted, but it's a finite resource.  Significant costs and energy are required to treat our drinking water to be clean and safe, deliver it to our taps, and manage the wastewater that goes down the drain. Spend a moment this week thinking about the essential role that water plays in your daily life.

Our water in Lake Oswego and Tigard is of the highest quality - let’s celebrate it!
