Pipeline Construction Update: Lake Oswego

This update includes construction work in the following areas. 

  • Iron Mtn. Blvd. paving and striping
  • B Ave. storm drain construction— at the intersection of 5th St.
  • Laurel St. gas line relocation work underway; Bickner St. water line and Erickson St. main line begins.
  • Durham St. cultural resource work move to next block
  • Hwy. 43 pipeline construction (night work) – postponed to November

How is the new water pipeline being built under the Willamette River?

Over 10 miles of large diameter water pipeline is currently under construction in Gladstone, West Linn, Lake Oswego and Tigard as part of the Lake Oswego-Tigard Water Partnership project. Construction methods for the pipeline vary between traditional cut-and-cover trenching and trenchless methods including horizontal directional drilling, micro tunneling and pipe ramming. While much of the pipeline is being installed in streets using typical cut-and-cover trenching, a special technique is used to get across the Willamette River.

Waluga Reservoir 2 (WR2) Construction Update

WR2 foundation footing pours complete

Crews completed the last foundation footing concrete pour and have now begun construction of the reservoir walls.

Exploratory digging at Parkhill Drive complete

Crews completed exploratory digging to locate underground utilities which ensured against conflicts with existing utilities around Parkhill Drive.

Crushing rock to re-use as fill

In a sustainable effort to reuse natural resources from the WR2 site, crews will be crushing rock later this week and early next week. The crushed rock will then be used as fill material on site. [This was slightly delayed due to an equipment breakdown.]
