Special Construction Reminder: Lake Oswego

Pipeline Work at Railroad Crossing on State Street Requires 48-Hour Weekend Construction Beginning Aug. 15

Beginning Saturday, Aug. 15 at 6 a.m., crews will start a period of 48-hour, continuous work to install the Lake Oswego Tigard Water Partnership’s new pipeline under the railroad tracks on State Street (Highway 43). Construction is expected to occur until as late as 6 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 17.

Travelers should expect significant delays and traffic congestion in downtown Lake Oswego during this 48-hour period. The Partnership encourages travelers to avoid the area, if possible, and use alternate routes.

Questions about the Partnership’s water source and water rights?

The City of Lake Oswego holds two water rights on the Clackamas River, one issued in 1967 for 32.3 million gallons per day (mgd) and one issued in 1973 for 5.8 mgd. The total amount of water allowed to be used under these two permits is 38 million gallons per day (MGD).  Half of Lake Oswego’s larger 1967 water right (total of 16 mgd) is certificated—meaning it has completed the state permitting process and is considered a property right, which cannot be revoked. The other half is in the permit development process, along with the 5.8 mgd right.
