River Intake Construction Update

Excavators digging rock and soil in the cofferdam

Excavators digging rock and soil in the cofferdam

Excavation of rock and soil inside the cofferdam at the river intake construction site in Gladstone is continuing through next week. Once excavation is complete, equipment and drilling supplies will begin arriving on site for installing rock anchors in the bottom of the cofferdam.

From Monday, September 23, the contractor will begin drilling deep holes into the ground on the construction site. These holes will be filled with concrete and reinforced with steel beams to protect the new access bridge from any possible bank erosion. These activities should take about four weeks to complete.

During this work, neighbors can expect an increase in noise and truck traffic as drilling occurs and rock and soil is removed from the site. Generally, during the next three weeks, work hours will be 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday to Saturday.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
