Water Treatment Plant Construction Update
All 250 auger cast piles in the clearwell and 78 piles in the ballasted flocculation are now complete! The smaller drill rig is now being demobilized and will be removed from site next week. The large drill rig will remain on site to drill piles for other foundations.
Demolition of the two existing lagoons on the northeast of the site is underway. A hydraulic hammer will break up the remaining base of the lime building next week. Starting Monday, the stockpiled concrete will be crushed on-site for later reuse. Crushing will occur after 8 a.m. toward the middle of the site and with the fan facing inward to reduce noise. Crushing the material for later reuse on site reduces truck traffic in the neighborhood by over 1,300 one way trips.
In February, sheet piles will be installed using a hydraulic vibratory hammer along the western wall of lagoon 3. Also, the contractor plans to install a second tower crane west of the existing one in early February.
During the demolition, sheet pile and concrete coating work, there is the potential for increased noise, odor and vibration during work hours, depending on neighbor’s locations or personal sensitivities.
Generally over the next month, work hours will be Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
