NW Natural Gas work in Carman Drive

NW Natural will be on Carman near the reservoir site to repair the gas service line that was damaged last week. NWNG will be working in Carman from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Wednesday, June 25. Please watch for flaggers between the traffic circle and the reservoir site during this work and expect some temporary delays.

Other Carman Drive roadwork

While the storm drain line and manholes are installed, there will be occasional work next week in Carman Drive after NWNG has completed its work. This work will include pavement striping, stump removal on Carman and abandonment of a water line. When this work is happening on Carman, it is likely that the same detour route will be in place that was in place earlier in the week and last week. This detour only allows through traffic heading westbound on Carman. Eastbound traffic will be required to detour onto Bonita Road. Work will occur from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will be intermittent through mid-week next week. Please follow the designated detour routes during this time.

City street crews will also be removing one small tree along Carman Drive to improve vision clearance as vehicles move west along Carman from the traffic circle and around the curve. This will improve driver safety as reservoir construction proceeds.

Reservoir site work

The rock crusher is still processing the pile of rocks at the reservoir site. The crushed material is being used at the site, saving over 150 truck trips through the area. Rock crushing will likely occur through early next week. Crews are using the water truck to keep down any dust that is created by this activity.

Starting the week of June 30, pipe will be encased on the reservoir site. This activity includes excavating, placing pipe and embedding some pipe in concrete. Crews will also begin installing the storm line up the access road off Carman Dr.

Quarry Road & Douglas Way road closures

Crews are currently installing pipe in Quarry Road, across the intersection with Douglas Way. Over the next week, Quarry Road will be closed to through traffic between Carman Drive and Oakridge Road during work hours.

Douglas Way is also closed between Hallmark Drive and Quarry Road through mid July. Please watch for signage directing you safely around the work zone and expect some temporary delays.

Once pipe has been installed in the Quarry Road intersection, crews will progress east along Douglas Way toward Lake Grove Elementary. Quarry Road will reopen once crews are on Douglas Way.

We apologize for any inconvenience this work may cause and thank you for your patience during construction of this important water storage project.
