Pipe testing and disinfection – all new pipelines
Throughout August, crews will be testing and disinfecting the new welded steel pipe along Quarry Road, Douglas Way, Lake Grove Elementary School, Boones Ferry Road, Lanewood Street, Douglas Circle, Twin Fir Road, Upper Drive, Iron Mountain Blvd. and Chandler Road. Crews will be cleaning the pipe, scrubbing coatings, filling the pipe with water, pressure testing and then chlorinating the pipe. During this work, there will be single lane closures in place. Please watch for flaggers.
Final paving is coming – mid-August through mid-September
Starting the week of August 11 and continuing through mid-September, final paving will occur along all streets in Lake Oswego where pipeline has been installed to date. Starting with the East Waluga Park parking lot, moving east, paving will occur tentatively as shown in the chart above, weather permitting. During paving, there will be periods where roads are temporarily closed to all traffic, so the new pavement can dry. Residents located along the pipeline alignment will receive a door hanger 48 hours prior to the scheduled paving on their street. Please find an alternative place to park on a side street or prepare to leave your house before the paving begins on your street.
During paving of the East Waluga Park parking lot, the parking lot will be temporarily closed for two days, including overnight. There will be no parking allowed during this time.
Quarry Road/Douglas Way/Lake Grove Elementary School
Pipe installation is now complete on Douglas Way and the Lake Grove Elementary School. Yesterday, crews started working in Quarry Road, near the Douglas Way intersection, to connect the new 24-inch waterline to an existing waterline and pump station. This work is expected to be complete by mid next week. Please watch for flaggers during this time. Once this work is complete, Douglas Way will be re-opened to through traffic.
Boones Ferry Road Crossing – night work is now complete!
Trenching and pipe installation across Boones Ferry Road started on Monday and is now complete!
Iron Mtn. Blvd. progress – work is almost complete!
Crews are almost finished laying pipe on Iron Mtn. Blvd! One crew remains laying pipe east toward Summit Drive, and the second crew is grouting, installing vaults and restoring the area between Summit and Fairway. Work in the closed zone between Summit and Fairway is expected to be complete by the end of next week, and the road then re-opened to through traffic. As the pipeline crew progresses on Iron Mtn. Blvd. toward Summit Drive, a single lane closure remains in place around the work zone during work hours (Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-6 p.m.). This work is expected to be complete in mid-August.
Thank you to neighbors and commuters for your patience during this closure.
Paving on Iron Mtn. Blvd. is scheduled to occur in late August, through mid-September. The road will remain open during paving, however there will be single lane closures to accommodate equipment and paving operations. To view the latest road closures and construction activity, please visit the work underway map.
B Ave. storm drainage work expected to start mid-August
The new, larger storm drain pipeline needed to prevent flooding in the First Addition-Forest Hills neighborhood will be installed starting mid-August. The new pipeline will vary in size from 18” to 30” and replaces the 12” existing line. One block and one intersection along B Ave. will be closed at a time to accommodate this work. The work will start at State and B and move west to 7th Street. Pedestrian access to all businesses will be provided within the one block work area, but no on-street parking will be available in the one block closed area. Parking is available on side streets and outside the work zone on B Ave, as well as in City parking lots downtown. The water line work that is planned to come down B Ave. from 10th is scheduled to begin in early 2015. Read our B Ave. construction brochure for more information.
Laurel/Erickson pipeline construction starting soon!
The Meet the Pipeline Contractor meeting was held on July 16, with about 35 neighbors attending. A recap of the Q/A from the meeting is posted here. Construction is expected to begin on Laurel at the intersection with Hwy. 43, moving west toward Erickson, the week of August 18. Expect to see detour signs and saw cutting along the asphalt over the next few weeks.
We apologize for any inconvenience work may cause and thank you for your patience as construction progresses.
