Water Treatment Plant Construction Update

A large concrete pour occurred this week for the Chemical Building slabs

Over the last week, auger cast piles were drilled for the finished water pump station and concrete was poured for the chemical and electrical building slabs. Water testing of the solids storage tank also continued. Once the water test is complete and the coatings applied, the area around the solids storage tank will be backfilled.

Late next week, installation of the secondary power feed for the plant is expected to begin between the Kenthorpe Way plant entrance and the center of the site. This includes excavating, setting new vaults and an electrical meter slab. Neighbors close to the site on Kenthorpe Way may experience an increase in noise or potential vibration during the excavation.

Over the next two weeks, work will continue on installing 30” – 48” piping across the site. Crews will drill auger cast piles, pour concrete to encase the piping, install, weld and test the piping. Concrete pours will continue for the ballasted flocculation, chemical building, electrical building and gravity thickener. Crews will also be removing the shoring support for the clearwell roof. Refer to the current site plan for locations of each structure.

Truck traffic will continue with material deliveries and increase during concrete pouring and excavating. Work hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. No work will take place on Labor Day, Monday September 1.
