Pipeline cleaning, testing and disinfection continues

Before paving can occur, installed pipes are cleaned, pressure tested and disinfected to assure that they are water tight, sanitary and ready to deliver clean drinking water to customers. This week, Upper Drive pipelines were cleaned and tested, along with pipelines in Iron Mtn. Blvd. between the traffic circle and the contractor staging area. Next week, pipelines on Iron Mtn. between Chandler and Summit Drive will be cleaned and tested.

Roadway paving and striping

Paving and striping of Lake Grove Elementary School is complete, in time for school starting next week. Estimated dates for paving remaining streets are shown in the chart below, weather permitting. Residents located along the pipeline alignment will receive a door hanger 48 hours in advance, notifying them of the dates for paving on their street. On narrow roads, such as Upper Drive, there will be periods where roads are temporarily closed to all traffic, so the new pavement can dry. On Iron Mtn. Blvd., some areas will receive full width paving and some will receive paving on one lane only. During Iron Mtn. paving, one lane will remain open at all times, with flaggers. However, it may be more convenient to find an alternate route to avoid delay. Roadway striping (center lines, fog lines, speed bumps, pathways, etc.) will occur after paving.

LocationEstimated Paving Dates
Upper Drive Week of September 8
Iron Mt. Blvd. Weeks of September 15 and 22 (10 days)

A reminder to pedestrians, runners and cyclists: make eye-contact with a crewmember and signal your presence before proceeding along the Iron Mtn. pathway, if construction or paving is nearby.

B Ave. storm drain construction—Week 2

Construction of a new stormwater system upgrade along B Avenue began last week.

B Avenue will be closed 24 hours a day, between OR43 and 1st St, during storm line construction—this section of work is expected to conclude next week. Once crews work through the first block of B Ave., west of 1st Street, work hours will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Moving forward, during construction hours, one block and one intersection along B Ave. will be closed at a time to accommodate this work. Surveying and saw cutting may occur outside the one-block closure area, but flaggers will guide traffic through these work areas with minimal delays.

Open For Business | Shop Local (Business Directory)

To support our business community, we have developed an online B Ave. business directory to let clients and customers know that B Ave. businesses are accessible and open during construction.

Next week, the work will proceed west, between First and Second Streets.

Construction hours have been changed to 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. to speed up construction and reduce longer term impacts to businesses. Pedestrian access to all businesses will be provided within the one block work area, but no on-street parking will be available in the closed area. Parking is available on side streets and outside the work zone on B Ave, as well as in City parking lots downtown.

Laurel St. pipeline construction completes one block!

Construction began last week on Laurel at Hwy. 43 and crews have now progressed one block and are now between Bullock Street and Lund. During construction, Laurel will be closed to through traffic between Hwy. 43 and Hallinan St. from 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday to Friday. A second crew is expected to begin laying pipe in Erickson Street next week. Erickson Street will be closed to through traffic between McVey and Laurel Streets. Parking will not be available on Erickson within the work zone.

Hwy. 43 pipeline construction (night work) – expected to start in mid-September

Crews are expected to begin laying pipe on Hwy. 43 near Laurel St., in mid-September. Work will progress south towards West Linn. All work on Hwy. 43 will be conducted at night between 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. In most areas on Hwy. 43, two way traffic will be maintained during construction. All lanes of traffic will be open during the day. By October, a second crew will begin pipeline construction in West Linn at Mapleton Drive on Hwy 43 and will work north to Lazy River Drive.

Next week, Oregon Dept. of Transportation (ODOT) crews will be cleaning culverts along the east side of Hwy. 43 between Mapleton Drive in West Linn and Laurel Street in Lake Oswego. No lane closures will occur, but traffic may be rerouted around medians where needed. ODOT work hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Thank you for your patience as construction progresses.
