West Linn Pipeline Construction Update

Construction updates include all current or upcoming pipeline work for the project in West Linn. Read below for specific information on the following:

  • Horizontal directional drilling and Mapleton Drive pipeline work
  • Highway 43 pipeline construction - expected to start in early December in West Linn
  • Neighborhood Construction Meetings - next meeting Nov. 18

Horizontal directional drilling and Mapleton Drive pipeline work

Now that the HDD pipe has been successfully installed under the river, the drilling equipment has been removed from the site (pictured left). The newly installed pipe has been cut, capped and buried. For safety, the site will remain fenced until pipeline work begins on Mapleton Drive next year.

The HDD pipe will then be connected to the newly installed pipe in Mapleton Drive. Pipeline construction on Mapleton Drive is expected to begin in early spring 2015.

Highway 43 pipeline construction – expected to start in early December in West Linn

Due to pipe availability and production delays, crews are now expected to begin work on Hwy. 43 near Mapleton Drive in West Linn the first week of December. This crew will work northbound toward Lake Oswego.

The first crew working on Hwy. 43 in Lake Oswego began laying pipe at night, near Laurel Street early last week (pictured above). The first segment near Laurel is going slowly due to some difficult conditions.

Most major work on Hwy. 43 will be conducted at night, Sunday evening through Friday morning 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Per ODOT approval and to minimize nighttime noise, in most locations on Hwy. 43 saw-cutting of the asphalt may occur during the day, for short durations from Monday-Friday 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. During intermittent day work, there may be single lane closures in place, but two-way traffic should be maintained in most areas on Hwy. 43.

Neighborhood Construction Meetings—next meeting on November 18

The next neighborhood construction update meeting will be held on November 18 at 6 p.m. in the downstairs restaurant area at Burgerville, 18350 Willamette Drive in West Linn. Please come along to stay updated on construction progress in West Linn and ask questions of the project team.
