Water Treatment Plant Construction Update
Utility work on Kenthorpe Way - expected to start next week
Portland General Electric (PGE) is expected to start installing the alternative electrical feed to the water treatment plant on Kenthorpe Way next week. Work is expected to take about four weeks to complete.
The new lines will be installed underground, requiring PGE to access the right-of-way area along Kenthorpe Way between Old River Road and the Water Treatment Plant during the hours of 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Flaggers will be present during construction hours to assist with traffic impacts. Once these facilities are installed, PGE will work with property owners and the city to restore the shoulder to its previous condition.
If you have questions, please contact PGE’s Project Manager Chris Jewett: Chris.Jewett@pgn.com or 503-672-5481.
Finished water pump station and clearwell – south and center of site
Mechanical and structural work continues for the finished water pump station. Over the next month, work will continue on installing the concrete block walls, roof joists, piping and structural steel. The water test for the clearwell is complete. The next step is to apply coating to the exterior of the clearwell. This is the same coating that has been applied on other new structures at the site.
Ballasted flocculation – center of site
Steel and decking continues to be placed for the top floor of the structure and mechanical equipment is being installed. Over the next week, exterior coating will be applied to the structure.
Solids storage building – northeast of site
Work is progressing on the structural trusses and roof systems for the solids storage building.
Chemical & electrical buildings – center of site
Work is now complete on installing the concrete blocks for the walls of the chemical building. Work is progressing on the bridge to connect the chemical building and the ballasted flocculation. Structural steel and decking is being placed for both the chemical and electrical buildings.
Miscellaneous work: auger cast piles, conduit and vaults – east and center of site
Auger cast pile drilling resumed this week for some large manholes in the center of the site. Over the next few weeks, crews will begin installing conduit and vaults on the east of the site, near the solids storage tank and the center of the site, in between the electrical building and finished water pump station. This work includes excavating, installing piping and backfilling. Neighbors close to the site may notice an increase in vibration during the excavation and backfilling.
