Special Bonita Pump Station and Bonita Road Construction Update

Crews will be pouring several components of the pump station over the next few weeks, including the structure’s footings

Waterline Connection in the intersection of Bonita Road and Milton Court

During the week of Dec. 8, crews will be working at the intersection of Bonita Road and Milton Court to connect the new Bonita Pump Station with Tigard’s current water system. Early next week, between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., crews will conduct exploratory digging followed by an excavation of the existing water lines.

On Thursday, Dec. 11 from 6 p.m. - 5 a.m., the new waterline connection will be installed. Crews will then backfill the site and place temporary paving.

During this work, expect to see and hear excavators, dump trucks, steel plates and lighting. Cones will be placed in the road to direct traffic around the work site, and the bike lane and sidewalk at the intersection will be temporarily closed to maintain safety. In addition, the west entrance to the Ricoh building along Bonita Road will be closed. Staff and customers are advised to use the east entrance during this time.

During the connection installation on Thursday, Dec. 11, there may be some short water shutoffs required during the night. Any affected properties will be notified by the City of Tigard.

Concrete Pouring at Bonita Pump Station

During the next few weeks, crews will be pouring and forming the meter vault lid, the structure’s footings, which are reinforced with rebar, and stem walls. They will also be installing electrical conduits and plumbing.

About Bonita Pump Station

The Bonita Pump Station will connect with several local water systems including Lake Oswego, Portland and Washington County. This supply collaboration will keep Tigard protected should one water supply become interrupted. Completion is expected in summer, 2015.

Did you know? Your new water system’s storage reservoirs are all covered, meaning fewer opportunities for contaminants to enter the system.
