Special Waluga Reservoir 2 (WR2) Construction Update

Crews will need to chip through some dense rock on Saturdays from now until mid-January.

Saturday Construction Work

Beginning Dec. 6, crews at the Waluga Reservoir site will be working on Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. until mid-January to chip rock around the existing reservoir and near Parkhill Street to install connecting waterlines. During excavation, crews have encountered denser rock than they had expected, which has slowed progress. These Saturday work hours will help ensure construction stays on schedule. Neighbors can expect an increase in noise during this time.

Rock Crushing

Neighbors may notice some increased truck activity on Parkhill Street. During some recent excavation work, crews have run into some muddy materials that need to be hauled off site. Typically, the crews are able to crush the rock that is excavated and then use it later to backfill the area after the work is complete, which minimizes the amount of trucks that need drive on and off the site. At the moment, however, the materials that the crews are encountering cannot be crushed or used as backfill and need to be removed.

Thank you for your patience during construction.
