East Waluga Park parking lot temporary closure- pipe disinfection
Next week, crews will begin a week-long pipe disinfection process centered in the East Waluga Park parking lot near Quarry Road. Pipes will be flushed with chlorinated water and then tested to ensure the waterlines are clean. This is a typical procedure done to pipes before they are put into use. Starting the morning of Monday, Jan. 12 through Thursday, Jan. 15, the parking lot and the work site within East Waluga Park will be closed to the public to maintain safety. Neighbors close to the park may notice a chlorine odor in the area, similar to a public swimming pool. Access will remain open to park users during the work. Signs informing park visitors and neighbors will be placed in the park prior to the start of pipe disinfection. Alternate parking is available at the West Waluga Park parking lot.
State Street – CenturyLink fiber conduit relocation work
Beginning the evening of Monday, Jan. 12, CenturyLink crews will relocate fiber conduit on State Street, between A Avenue and the railroad crossing, in Lake Oswego. Crews will begin at the intersection of State Street and A Avenue, and work south to the railroad crossing. Work will occur from 8 p.m. – 5 a.m., Monday through Friday. This work is expected to take three weeks to complete.
During this time, expect temporary delays as there will be a single lane closure to accommodate equipment on the northbound lane of State Street. During work hours, the traffic signal at State Street and A Avenue will also be turned off. Steel plates will be placed within the roadway. Neighbors can expect to see and hear excavators, dump trucks and lighting. Please watch for flaggers and signage to guide you safely around the work zone. For questions related to the CenturyLink work, please contact Scott Miller at 503-242-4144.
Highway 43 nighttime construction - continues near Holy Names Drive
Pipeline installation work on Highway 43 is progressing south towards West Linn. Crews are currently installing about 100-150ft of pipe a night and are now working between Glenmorrie Drive and Holy Names Drive. Most major work is occurring at night from Sunday –Thursday, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Per ODOT approval and to minimize nighttime noise, some asphalt saw-cutting on Highway 43 in Lake Oswego is occurring sporadically throughout the week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In most areas, two-way traffic is maintained except in some narrow areas where only one lane can be open at a time.
A second crew continues to install pipe in West Linn along Highway 43 working north towards Lake Oswego. While it has been a slow start with deep excavations and unmarked utilities, crews are now installing pipe between Hidden Springs Road and Cedar Oak Drive. Work hours are Sunday to Thursday, 8 p.m. - 5 a.m.
