Highway 43 - Permanent trench patch almost complete, pipe testing to begin

Crews have almost completed the placement of the permanent trench patch along the two-mile stretch of Highway 43 where the pipe was installed. This is providing a much smoother ride for motorists.

Over the next few weeks, small crews will continue working along the pipeline alignment on Highway 43, between Mapleton Drive and Laurel Street. During this time, steel plates may be present in the roadway. Work will include completing the permanent trench patch; restoring or removing concrete panels (pictured above); installing valves, drains, laterals; making pipe connections; performing inspections; and filling and hydro testing the pipeline. Final paving of the lane where the pipe was installed will occur once all work is complete on Highway 43 and the new pipe is tested, likely this summer.

This week, crews began installing an 18-inch water pipe at the end of Old River Road near Highway 43 to connect to West Linn’s existing pump station. This provides an emergency intertie to West Linn’s system. Work is expected to be complete in the next week and is occurring during the day.

Nighttime work hours on Highway 43 are 8 p.m. – 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. During construction, one lane will be open at a time in most areas, with flaggers guiding traffic in each direction. Please drive with caution while traveling through the construction zones and be sure to follow the directions given by flaggers.

Open for Business - support local businesses along Highway 43

The Lake Oswego Tigard Water Partnership is committed to supporting local businesses during night construction on Highway 43. While construction is under way, businesses remain open to serve the community and visitors. Through discount coupons, an online business directory, signage, videos, special ads and promotional items in the West Linn Tidings, the Partnership is striving to increase business exposure, attract customers and encourage neighbors to buy local.

Mapleton Drive - Exploratory digging complete

Exploratory digging along the water pipeline route on Mapleton Drive, which is done to ensure the pipeline does not conflict with existing utilities in the area, is now complete.
