Bonita Road Pipeline

Crews have begun the process of tunneling under I-5 (pictured left) to install the pipeline from the area near Paul Schatz Furniture Store in Tigard to the area near Ethan Allen in Lake Oswego, off Bangy Road. The receiving shaft on the Lake Oswego side of I-5 will be excavated beginning May 4. The contractor is currently working double shifts to speed up this work and minimize the impacts to nearby businesses, and is expecting to be complete by mid-May. Work hours are 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

During the week of May 18, crews will begin excavating a second shaft in the center lane of Bonita Road near 74th Avenue. This shaft will be used to install the pipeline underneath the railroad tracks using an auger bore. While it is in place, there will be no left turns permitted from 74th Avenue onto Bonita Road. Two-way traffic will be maintained, however, traffic control devices will direct vehicles around the site. This area will also house a large crane and excavator. The shaft will be present along with traffic control devices 24 hours a day, seven days a week for about two months

Night work on the Bonita Road pipeline continues next week. Crews will install pipe between 72nd Avenue and Sequoia Parkway, working towards I-5. Work hours are 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Please watch for flaggers and traffic control devices. As they install the pipeline, the road will be temporarily patched. Final paving will occur after the pipe is pressure tested and disinfected, likely in early fall 2015.

Bonita Pump Station

Next week, crews will be working to finish the pump station’s standing seam metal roof and HVAC system. A large storefront-style window is being installed into the center wall inside the pump station, which lets pump station staff monitor the equipment when the controls need to be adjusted. They’ll also continue to pressure test the waterlines and work on the electrical system.

Milton Court

Crews have finished the stormwater line in Milton Court and will be preparing the road for new curbs and paving next week. In mid-May, Milton Court will be paved, and the curbs and sidewalks will be poured. While this work is occurring, flaggers will be in place to direct traffic. Please note, the final paving and curb/sidewalk installation is weather dependent.

About Bonita Pump Station

The Bonita Pump Station will connect with several local water systems including Lake Oswego, Portland and Washington County. This supply collaboration will keep Tigard protected should one water supply become interrupted. Completion is expected in fall 2015.
