A Avenue, 9th Street and B Avenue construction - paving to begin this month
The testing phase for the pipeline on A Avenue, 9th Street and B Avenue is almost complete. In mid-June, crews expect to begin the final paving of these roads, however this is weather dependent. To help minimize traffic and business impacts, paving within the business district on B Avenue, between State and 5th Streets, and A Avenue, between 9th Street and Chandler Road, will occur at night, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. The other portions will be done during the day, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Crews will first grind off a few inches of pavement and then place new asphalt down.
During paving, there will be periods where roads are temporarily closed to traffic for the new pavement to dry. Residents located along the pipeline alignment will receive a door hanger 48 hours prior to the scheduled paving on their street. During this time, we ask residents to please find alternate places to park or prepare to leave to your houses before the paving begins on your street.
State Street nighttime construction - begins soon
Pipeline construction is expected to begin in late June or early July on State Street at night, beginning at B Avenue and working south under the railroad tracks. From there, the pipeline will be installed along a portion of Foothills Road, through the Oswego Village Shopping Center, the Old Town neighborhood, George Rogers Park and McVey Avenue.
Please note: to install the pipe under the railroad tracks on State Street, crews will need to work continuously, day and night, for one 48-hour period. This will occur over a weekend to reduce the impact to commuter traffic. Lane closures will be in place with flaggers directing traffic around the site. More information about this phase of construction will be announced soon.
To minimize traffic and business impacts, most work on State Street will occur at night. In most areas, one lane of traffic will be open in each direction, with flaggers guiding traffic. All lanes will be open to traffic during the day. More information downtown construction visit the Lake Oswego Construction Activities page.
McVey Avenue pipe bridge - construction underway
Crews are clearing the area near Oswego Creek in preparation for construction of the pipe bridge off McVey Avenue. This month, crews will begin forming and pouring the bridge’s footings. This work will be done during the day between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday – Friday.
Highway 43 nighttime construction - pipeline testing continues, final paving to begin next month
Over the next month, small crews will continue working along the pipeline alignment on Highway 43, between Laurel Street and Mapleton Drive. Work includes filling, testing, disinfecting and chlorinating the pipeline. Once this work is complete, final paving of the lane where the pipe was installed will occur—expected to begin in mid-June. Crews will begin paving in West Linn and progress towards Laurel Street in Lake Oswego.
Nighttime work hours on Highway 43 are 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. During construction, one lane will be open at a time in most areas, with flaggers guiding traffic in each direction.
