Preparing to pour concrete for the new WTP administration building

Fourth of July gift basket.

Installation of the auger cast piles.

Water Treatment Plant Construction Update

We would like to give a special thank you to the West Linn neighbor who gave our crews at the plant this incredible Fourth of July basket with homemade cookies. They really appreciated this kind gesture. There will be no work occurring at the site from Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5. We wish everyone a happy and safe Fourth of July weekend!

New filters – northwest of site

Crews are making good progress on the installation of the auger cast piles to support the 54-inch pipe as part of the connection between the new filters and ballasted flocculation. Once the pipe encasement piles are complete, they will begin drilling piles for the filter slabs. More than 160 piles will be installed for the filters. This work is expected to continue through mid-July.

As part of the drilling work, several trucks are arriving and departing at the site. Also, the large vibratory compactor is being used intermittently to help backfill and prepare the subgrade for the next stage of pouring concrete slabs. The compactor and auger cast pile drill has been used throughout construction in other areas across the site. Neighbors close to the site should expect an increase in vibration and noise during this work.

New administration building – north of site

Crews are tying rebar, installing beams to intersect with the newly installed auger cast piles, preparing the subgrade and forming the base for conduit and floor drains. Next week, concrete will be poured for the grade beams. Crews will then begin preparing for the slabs and walls to be poured. Neighbors should expect an increase in truck traffic and noise during this time.

Miscellaneous piping work – east and south of site, near Mapleton Drive

In early-mid July, NW Natural is expected to connect the newly-installed gas line at the plant to an existing gas line in the center of the road on Mapleton Drive, near the site. This will involve excavating a small trench, making the connection, backfilling and placing a temporary pavement patch. A single lane closure will be in place during this work, which is expected to take a few days.
