Final landscaping and fencing to be installed at the new pump station
Tigard Pipeline and Bonita Pump Station Construction Update
This construction update includes all work in Tigard for the project. Read more for specific information on each location:
- Bonita Road Pipeline
- Bonita Pump Station
Bonita Road Pipeline
Crews recently removed the concrete barricades around the work site and demobilized most of the equipment from the center lane of Bonita Road, and will finish backfilling the area soon. The excavator will remain in place for the next week while crews finish installing the pipeline from Milton Court to the recently-installed pipeline at the railroad tracks. While this work is being done, expect steel plates to be present in the roadway. Left turns are still prohibited from 74th Avenue onto Bonita Road.
Thank you to businesses and commuters for your patience during this work.
Crews also finished installing pipe between 72nd Avenue and Sequoia Parkway, and under the 96-inch culvert. In the next few weeks, they’ll also install pipe just off Bonita Road next to the freeway overpass, connecting with the pipeline that was tunneled under I-5.
Work hours are 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday through Friday. Crews expect to install about 50 feet of pipe each night. As the pipeline is installed, the road will be temporarily patched. Final paving will occur after the pipe is pressure tested and disinfected, likely in early fall 2015.
Bonita Pump Station
Work continues inside the pump station, where crews are installing equipment (gauges, monitors) for the pumps, finishing electrical systems, testing the HVAC system, and painting the pipelines and ceiling. Over the next few weeks, landscaping will be planted, fencing will be installed and an irrigation system will be placed around the site. As the Bonita Pump Station nears closer to completion, crews also plan to begin testing the pumps sometime next month, however, this schedule is dependent on the pipeline installation along Bonita Road.
About Bonita Pump Station
The Bonita Pump Station will connect with several local water systems including Lake Oswego, Portland and Washington County. This supply collaboration will keep Tigard protected should one water supply become interrupted. Completion is expected in fall 2015.
