Parkhill piping almost complete
Waluga Reservoir 2 (WR2) Construction Update
WR2 - Painting Complete!
Crews finished painting the exterior of Waluga Reservoir 2 (WR2). Now that the reservoir is green, the structure should blend in better with its natural surroundings. Over the next few weeks, crews plan to grade the site, install irrigation systems, plant landscaping, install fencing and build a rock retaining wall by the reservoir entrance on Carmen Drive.
WR1 improvements continue
Crews completed the auger bore into the existing Waluga Reservoir 1 (WR1) to make a connection with a nearby pipe vault and the work shaft in the floor inside WR1. The area has now been backfilled with a cement slurry. Crews will continue to make improvements inside the reservoir, including the installation of a new mixing manifold, which will enhance water quality after WR1 is back online, and pouring new roof hatches. In the next few weeks, the inside of WR1 will be cleaned and chlorinated in preparation for filling and a return to service.
Crews have almost finished installing piping and electrical conduits in the Parkhill Drive area to connect WR1 and WR2 with the new water system near East Waluga Park. Parts of the area are being backfilled and final connections are being made. Over the next few weeks the pipes will be pressure tested and chlorinated. Please be cautious when walking on the trails to East Waluga Park and near the work site.
