State Street, Lake Oswego – railroad crossing complete

Last weekend, crews successfully installed the pipeline under the railroad tracks on State Street (Highway 43) in Lake Oswego. Crews completed this portion 12 hours early without major disruptions to commuter traffic on Monday morning. While lane closures were in place over the weekend, crews were able to maintain both one northbound and southbound lane of traffic. Thank you for your patience during this work. Crews are now working at night on Foothills Road and will soon progress through the Oswego Village Shopping Center. Highway 43 in West Linn – all major work complete, pipeline is in service!

All major work is complete for the two-mile stretch of pipeline that was installed on Highway 43 between Mapleton Drive, West Linn and Laurel Street, Lake Oswego, and this portion of the pipeline is now in service! Some final miscellaneous work continues on the corrosion protection system.

Thank you to businesses, neighbors and travelers for your patience and understanding during the pipeline work.

Mapleton Drive - pipeline construction underway

This week, crews set up their temporary storage area on the south side of the treatment plant site and, today, started pipeline work at the eastern end of Mapleton Drive. Crews are working toward the Nixon Avenue intersection—this is expected to take about two weeks, depending on ground conditions.

During pipeline construction, the eastern end of Mapleton Drive, south of Nixon Avenue, is closed to through traffic. Once crews work past the Nixon Avenue and Mapleton Drive intersection, a detour will be in place during work hours. Residents located east of the active work zone will need to use the detour route on Nixon Avenue and Cedaroak Drive during construction hours.

Work hours and what to expect

Work hours on Mapleton Drive are Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Neighbors can expect to see and hear excavators, generators, loaders, saw-cutters, compressors, pipe, steel plates, gravel and dump trucks in the work area and right-of-way. During work hours, there can be an increase in noise, truck traffic and vibration, depending on neighbors’ locations.

Crew members will notify affected residents who may have their driveways blocked during pipeline construction work hours, typically one to three days in advance, to explain which driveways will be impacted and coordinate parking.
