Structural work continues for the plant’s new administration building
Information about onsite work includes:
Administration building – north of site
Crews have poured the second story slab for the administration building and, this week, have been working on the second story shear walls (pictured right). Over the next few weeks, structural steel and decking will be placed for the second story and framing for interior walls will be installed for the first story. During the structural steel work, neighbors may notice an intermittent metal-on-metal like noise as crews install the steel and rebar.
New filters – northwest of site
Large concrete pours are progressing for the filter walls, with several trucks arriving and departing the site. Crews have begun installing the shoring support for the suspended slabs in the northwest corner of the structure.
A concrete pour takes place for the filter walls. The large hole shown in the foreground is the excavated area for the washwater basin.
Washwater recovery basin – northwest of site
Last week, crews poured walls and a slab for the deep sump in the corner of the washwater basin and backfilled around the edge of the sump (pictured above).
Crews are now focused on forming and pouring the concrete slabs for the washwater basin. Pours are occurring about twice a week. During concrete pours, there is an increase in truck traffic on Kenthorpe Way.
