  • Safety reminder
  • Work hours
  • Trillium Creek Tunnel
  • Sewer line relocation
  • Neighborhood construction meetings

Safety reminder

Construction sites are busy places. The roadway is very narrow and there is a lot of equipment between the active work zone and staging areas. Please be cautious and aware – pedestrians and bicyclists are encouraged to avoid walking or riding through the active work zone.

To maintain safety, please travel slowly in the work areas on Mapleton Drive, and obey flagger directions in all active construction zones.

Work hours

Work hours on Mapleton Drive are Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, crews plan to work through Wednesday, December 23. No work will occur between Thursday, December 24 and Sunday, January 3. Crews will return on Monday, January 4.

Trillium Creek Tunnel

This week, crews began excavating and dewatering the work pits to prepare for “sliplining” the pipe through the tunnel, which involves placing a smaller, carrier pipe through the larger pipe casing that was installed this summer under the creek. Over the next week or two, crews will push the pipe through the tunnel, fill the pipe casing with sand, backfill the work pits and place temporary pavement. During this work, nearby neighbors should expect an increase in noise and vibration.

During work at the creek, a single-lane closure will be in place with flaggers. Expect some short-term temporary delays to get through the work zone.

Sewer line relocation

This week, crews began relocating about 150 feet of sewer line between 4101 Mapleton and 4020 Mapleton Drive. Work on the sewer relocation is expected to be complete by the end of today.

Tomorrow, crews plan to resume laying the large water pipe around 4101 Mapleton Drive, working westward.

During the sewer and water pipe work, the road will remain closed in the active work area and the detour route will be in place.

Road closure and detour route during pipeline construction

During work hours, a detour is in place and no through traffic is allowed in the active work zone on Mapleton Drive. Please follow the detour signage directing traffic around the closure area.

The road will continue to be closed to through traffic at the active work zone as it moves along Mapleton Drive. Residents located east of the active work zone will need to use the detour route on Nixon Avenue, Elmran Drive and Cedaroak Drive during work hours (refer to detour map link above). Residents located west of the active work zone can use Mapleton Drive between their home and Highway 43 during work hours.

For more information about road closures and detours, refer to the guidelines.
