Crews back in action installing pipe on Mapleton

After taking a break for the holidays and waiting for the ice to melt, crews resumed pipe construction near 4020 Mapleton Drive on Tuesday. Crews are working west toward Highway 43, now within the 3900 block.

Depending on conditions, crews are aiming to finish laying pipe to the end of Mapleton Drive by early-mid February, if not sooner. Once the pipeline is installed, pipe testing, restoration and final “punch list” activities will take place.

This week, a second crew has also been working on the finished water pipe connection at the treatment plant staging yard. This work is expected to be complete by early next week. Over the next few weeks, this crew will be focused on the following activities:

  • Installing a drain on the north side of the road near Trillium Creek,
  • Placing temporary pavement patches,
  • Installing a vault and air valve.

A single lane closure and flaggers will be in place for these activities.

Work hours on Mapleton Drive are 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

Road closure and detour route during pipeline construction

During work hours, a detour is in place and no through traffic is allowed in the active work zone on Mapleton Drive. Please follow the detour signage directing traffic around the closure area.

The road will continue to be closed to through traffic at the active work zone as it moves along Mapleton Drive. Residents located east of the active work zone will need to use the detour route on Nixon Avenue, Elmran Drive and Cedaroak Drive during work hours (refer to detour map link above). Residents located west of the active work zone can use Mapleton Drive between their home and Highway 43 during work hours.
