450 feet of pipe left to install on Mapleton Drive!

Crews install a 48-foot stick of pipe close to Trillium Creek.

West Linn Pipeline Construction Update: Mapleton Drive

About 450 feet of pipe left to install on Mapleton Drive!

This week, the pipe was successfully installed and connected to the tunnel under Trillium Creek!

Pipe crews are now embarking on their final portion of pipe laying on Mapleton Drive! Next week, they begin working their way closer towards Highway 43, installing pipe up the hill west of Trillium Creek.

Throughout February, crews expect to work between Highway 43 and Trillium Creek finishing pipe laying, installing an air valve and vault near the corner of Highway 43 and Mapleton Drive, and pressure testing and disinfecting the pipe. Crews will also begin restoration and final “punch list” activities on Mapleton Drive.

The last few weeks, a second crew has been working on the finished water pipe connection at the treatment plant staging yard, placing temporary pavement patches over the trench, and installing a vault and air valve near 3960 Mapleton. Over the next few weeks, this crew will be focused on the following activities:

  • Installing a drain on the north side of the road near Trillium Creek,
  • Trimming some tree branches overhanging in the right-of-way near the north corner of Highway 43 and Mapleton Drive (a certified arborist will be monitoring the work and the adjacent property will be notified),
  • Continuing to place temporary pavement patches,
  • Grouting the pipeline,
  • Beginning to demobilize the north side of the staging yard at 3777 Mapleton Drive.

A single lane closure and flaggers will be in place for these activities.

Work hours on Mapleton Drive are 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

In early February, crews will remove equipment and materials from the back (north) side of their staging yard, west of the creek. The pipeline contractor will continue to use the front (south) side of the yard until all their work is complete.

Road closure and detour route during pipeline construction

TRAFFIC ALERT: In a few weeks, as crews move closer to Highway 43, the left hand turn lane on southbound Highway 43 will be coned off and closed during work hours. Traffic control barricades and cones will also be installed at the end of Mapleton Drive, near Highway 43. Traffic on Highway 43 should not be impacted.

The road will continue to be closed to through traffic at the active work zone as it moves along Mapleton Drive. While crews are working in the area close to Highway 43, all residents and traffic will need to use the detour route during work hours, as the road will be closed at the intersection with Highway 43. Please follow the detour signage directing traffic around the closure area.
