Durham Street between Leonard and Church Streets – repaving
Earlier this week, crews took advantage of the dry and warmer weather and repaved a portion of Durham Street, between Leonard and Church Streets. The remainder of Durham Street, between Church and Ladd, and the portion of Ladd Street between Durham Street and where the pipe enters the park, will be repaved this spring when the weather improves.
George Rogers Park/Green Street – restoration almost complete!
Paving in Green Street where the pipe was installed was completed this week. New sod is now installed in George Rogers Park along the width of the pipe trench. The fence that was removed during construction will be reinstalled shortly.
State Street and McVey intersection - CenturyLink night work
Starting next Thursday, February 18 or Friday, February 19, CenturyLink is expected to install new conduit across State Street, between Green Street and McVey Avenue. This is expected to take two-three nights, and work hours will be 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Lane closures and flaggers will be in place. For more information, contact CenturyLink.
Once CenturyLink is complete, crews will need to repair and replace concrete panels in the State Street and McVey Avenue intersection. The work will involve breaking concrete, pouring new concrete, and repaving. Neighbors should expect an increase in noise during this work. The concrete will need to cure for a few days, and during this time, steel plates will be present in the roadway. More information will be provided once a schedule is confirmed for this work.
McVey Avenue pipe bridge – work continues
This week progress slowed on the pipe bridge due to a delay with the steel for the bridge supports. Crews now expect to install the steel supports in late February. During this time, two cranes will be mobilized onto the McVey Avenue traffic bridge to lift the pipe supports down into the creek area and onto the bridge footings.
Once the pipe bridge has been completely installed, the pipeline will be tested and disinfected. This is expected to occur in March.
Work hours on McVey Avenue are 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. During the day, intermittent lane closures will be in place, primarily in the eastbound lane. Flaggers will be present to guide traffic through the construction zone.
PLEASE NOTE: With higher traffic levels in this area, please expect some delays during the day on McVey Avenue and State Street, and plan accordingly. To maintain safety, please drive slowly through the work area and obey flagger directions.
Once the pipe testing is complete, crews will begin site restoration and repave McVey Avenue, however, this is weather dependent. Paving on McVey will likely occur at night, to minimize traffic impacts.
