Paving complete at the WTP

Water Treatment Plant Construction Update

Paving is complete at the plant! New asphalt was placed over the last week for the entrances, access road and the new pedestrian pathway.

Landscaping crews are installing the lateral lines and placing sprinkler heads. They are also preparing the planting areas for new soil. Extension of the good neighbor cedar fence near the new pathway will be completed soon, followed by the entrance gates, which completes the new secure perimeter. Site lighting in the new public areas will be tested in the next few weeks.

Tree Removal

Recently, an assessment of the health of existing trees on site was conducted with the City of West Linn arborist. Approximately 10-20 trees were identified as being in poor condition due to hazardous growth patterns, varying in size and species (ash, cottonwood, cedar). These trees will be removed for safety reasons and to enhance the health of existing and new trees. The City of West Linn has permitted the trees for removal.

Trees have been tagged for removal, and are predominantly located near the eastern boundary, southeastern boundary and northeastern boundary of the plant.

A tree removal company will be removing the identified trees periodically over the coming weeks. The first portion to be removed will be those in the southeast corner, near the new pedestrian pathway, between the plant’s east property line and the new pathway (starting early next week). During removal, neighbors may hear an increase in noise from the chain saw and chipper truck.

Removed trees will be mitigated and replaced with new trees to be planted in the coming weeks.

Pathway Ribbon-Cutting Event

To commemorate the new pedestrian pathway and celebrate completion of plant construction in the neighborhood, the Partnership plans to hold a ribbon-cutting event along the new pedestrian pathway this summer. Stay tuned for more details, but expect some fun activities for kids and behind-the-scene tours of the new plant. We hope to see you there!
